Based in Tasmania and reporting to the General Manager – Quarries and Concrete, we are looking for a dynamic Operations Manager to lead the efficient and effective operation of multiple quarries, processing facilities and concrete plants within Boral’s Concrete and Quarries business. This role is pivotal in steering our operations toward success, driving growth, and developing robust strategies to advance our business and teams.

 Your day will involve:

  • Regional Oversight: Partner with the General Manager to manage operations, focusing on revenue, cost, and profit while achieving financial and operational targets.
  • Safety and Improvement: Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement, establishing Boral Tasmania as an industry leader.
  • Budget and Strategy: Develop and execute annual budgets and sales strategies, targeting EBIT, volume, and ASP.
  • Quarry Development: Create and implement a sustainable quarrying development plan for infrastructure and resources.
  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage key improvement projects, ensuring effective execution and impact.
  • Asset Optimisation: Work with the Asset Manager to optimize asset use and guide capital expenditure.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide expert support to Quarry Managers, Plant Managers and Supervisors to boost their effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, industry groups, community, and government.
  • LEAN Implementation: Champion LEAN (Boral Production System) principles.
  • Safety and Compliance: Promote safe work practices and ensure adherence to Quarrying safety and WH&S management systems.
  • Environmental Management: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and effective management of relevant systems.
  • Improvement Plans: Collaborate with the General Manager and Health and Safety Business Partner to develop data-driven safety and environmental plans.

What Are We Looking For?

  • At least five years of experience in Operations Leadership (preferably in Quarries or Concrete) or similar roles.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Mining, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to build partnerships, foster cooperation, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and consultation skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation abilities.
