Boral Quarries is looking to appoint an experienced Technical Specialist. The key focus of this role will be supporting the technical function of monitoring, developing, optimising, training and innovating technical performance of quarry products as well as mentoring on the underpinning knowledge of quarry products.

For this role, we are seeking an industry experienced, results oriented professional to work in growing our already highly regarded business. As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for providing best technical support to the New South Wales Quarry business, primarily in product design, setup and quality. 

This is a permanent opportunity offering full-time hours across Monday to Friday. This role will be primarily based around Coffs Harbour/NSW North Coast and supporting Western NSW Region.

Your day will involve: 

  • Adhere to all internal and external relevant health and safety laws and policies.
  • Manage, organise, present and update all relevant data using database applications.
  • Engage with and assist production team in terms of providing product mixes that are suitable for production and make minor modifications to enable more streamlined and effective production of quarry materials.
  • Engage with sales and production teams to ensure that we are providing customers with the right products that meet their needs.
  • Assist sales team with technical support and troubleshooting with product related customer issues.
  • Develop new mix designs as required to meet customer requirements.
  • Identify shifts and trends in product performance and address changes in materials as required.
  • Complete Trial Mix Programs with assistance from laboratory technicians as required by Technical Manager – Quarries.
  • Development of new Quarry products to meet customer requirements.
  • Respond to and follow-up all Quarry Sales enquiries and requests by email, phone and visits.
  • Have input into business development and innovation projects that Boral decides to undertake.

What are we looking for? 

  • Minimum 5 years construction materials industry experience
  • Minimum 2-year concrete/asphalt industry experience is desirable but not essential
  • Laboratory and testing skills highly desirable
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and strong emotional intelligence
  • High level skills in spreadsheet and word processing applications
  • Effective time management skills
